Capt. Wayne R. Berry Jr. Obituary
Berry, Capt. Wayne R. Jr.
Wayne passed away March 11th with his wife and kids by his side. He was born on February 20, 1924 to Wayne and Emma Berry in Speed Missouri. We was the oldest of three sons. He joined the Navy in 1941. After the Navy, dad became a merchant seaman and got to see much of the world. He married the love of his life, Ann Choroski, in 1954 and "stowed his sea bags". They settled in Southern California and raised a family of five. Pop was called back to sea during the Vietnam War. Twenty short years later he retired from the Military Sealift Command as a Master. This gave him plenty of time to grow one of the best gardens in all of Camarillo, which he loved sharing with his wonderful neighbors. Dad loved to fish in his small boat, take long road trips with mom and play golf with his buddies. He moved to Phoenix in 2004 to be closer to his kids. He leaves his wife of 62 years Ann, and his children with wonderful memories. His numerous nieces and nephews all loved Uncle Wayne. His 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren will all miss their "Papa". He was one of a kind… Wayne never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was kind, cheerful and loved to laugh. He will be missed by so many people. We appreciate all the cards, flowers and letters we have received. Wayne is survived by his wife Ann, son Wayne (Karen) AZ, son Robert (Caroline) AZ, daughters Patti (Chris) OR, Susan (Rick) CA and son, Roger AZ. One brother, H.C. (Susan) of Missouri. Dad…you will always be in our hearts…May you have fair wind and following seas.
