Williams, William H.
72, passed away with a song in his heart on Monday, February 15, 2016. Bill was born on March 7, 1943 to Ralph and Evelyn Williams of New Castle, PA. He is survived by his younger brother Ronald S.Williams, New Castle, PA. After graduating from New Castle High School and Penn State College with a degree in Education, Bill married Sally L Lawrence in 1965 and had two children, Deran and Amy. He taught at Ben Franklin Junior High School for two years and then worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Health. While in New Castle, Bill joined the Eintracht Singing Society, a male choir that performs traditional German music. In 1977, Bill moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and worked for the Arizona Department of Health Services and then with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, retiring after 30 years with the State. Shortly after arriving in Arizona, Bill joined the Phoenician's Barbershop Chorus and was a dedicated member of the Phoenicians, Pride of Phoenix, and Spirit of Phoenix Choruses. He sang barbershop music for over 36 years here in the Phoenix area. In 1993, Bill married Carol A Sterrett and together they were blessed with, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Bill enjoyed working with computers, singing, hunting, and fishing. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12th at the Light & Life Methodist Church, 15220 No. 39th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85053.
