passed away on March 31, 2016. William James Hadnett, aged 87, was called from this world on March 31st, 2016 at 7:30PM. Twenty-five loving family members filled his hospital room at the time of his passing. Born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 7, 1928, Bill shared his adolescence with brothers Dick and Wyn. In 1949, he began studying Journalism at Ohio State University. A natural born storyteller and writer, Bill rose to Editor-in-Chief of the Buckeye student newspaper, The Lantern. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving until his honorable discharge in 1953. Bill married longtime sweetheart Betty Jane Yavorsky on September 7th of the same year. He also returned to OSU, graduating in 1954 with his Bachelor's degree in Journalism. Betty and Bill raised five amazing children: Katherine Elaine, William Kevin, Arthur Joseph, Mary Elizabeth, and Matthew Michael. Bill held a career at Hughes Aircraft Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1987 as the Company's Director of Facilities. In retirement, he contributed generously to charitable causes, golfed, travelled with his wife, and remained an active and model member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his five children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A viewing and rosary will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on April 7th at Melcher Mortuary, 6625 E Main Street, Mesa. His funeral takes place at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8th at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 N Recker Rd, Mesa. Burial and reception to follow. Services entrusted to Melcher Mission Chapel.
