Sgt. James Witkowski Sgt. James Witkowski, 32, of Surprise had been deployed to Iraq for 11 months when a roadside bomb took him from us on Wednesday, October 26, 2005. He was in the 729th Transportation Company. He had a great since of humor and loved America and volunteered to serve in Iraq. He leaves behind his parents, James and Barbara, sisters Tracey Ankrom of Phoenix and Randi Ledingham of Florida. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4th at 11:00 A.M. at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd. in Phoenix.
