William Kovach Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 27, 2012.
Kovach, William (Bill)
62, a long time Glendale Az. resident, died on May 24, 2012, from complications related to a stroke. Bill was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and a son who cared dearly for his mom and dad. Bill was always providing a helping hand with a very loving and giving spirit. He cared dearly for his wife, Marie, of 41 years who was his lifelong partner in all of their undertakings, challenges, and accomplishments. He faithfully looked out for his only daughter, Heather, his entire life. He was the primary caregiver for both his mother and father in their later years, he always took his elderly father to his weekly poker games (and "reluctantly" continued the tradition after his father's death), and insured that his mother could attend all of her church activities. He was always the first to volunteer whenever anyone needed help. Bill was very active in the Catholic Church and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Bill and Marie owned and operated "Bill's Shoe Hut" in Maryvale and Glendale, Az for 25 years before retiring in 2002. At one time they owned, rented and managed over 20 houses while running the shoe store. There was nothing that Bill could not fix or figure out how to fix. Bill was born Oct. 29, 1949 in Clearfield Pa., to William and Frances Kovach and often introduced himself as "Hi, I'm Bill, from Pennsylvania" even when he was touring China with other family members. Surviving family are his wife, Marie Kovach, his daughter Heather Brekken, and his grandchildren, Jonathan Brekken, Jacob Brekken, and Natalie Brekken, his mother, Frances Kovach, sister, Valarie Fischer, brothers, Michael Kovach, Dennis Kovach and several nieces. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 1:00pm at St Raphael Parish Glendale, 5525 W. Acoma Road, Glendale, Az 85306. Jesus promised "In my Father's house, there are many dwelling places. If there were not, I would have told you. For I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will return again, and then I will take you to myself, so that where I am, you also may be."
