Krosnick, Arthur
88, passed away on May 23, 2012. He was born in Trenton New Jersey, the youngest of 8 children of Latvian Immigrants. After public primary education he attended Temple University. With his 3 older brothers, Dr. Krosnick enlisted in the Armed forces at the onset of WWII. He attended Officer's training at Tufts University to join the Navy as an Ensign in the Pacific Theatre on the ATA Burleson. He assisted in the liberation of Hong Kong and, at the end of the war, the atomic bomb testing in the Bikini Atoll. He married college classmate Evelyn Rieber of Philadelphia PA, at the end of the war and returned to Philadelphia to attend Temple University School of Medicine from which he graduated in 1951. Following Residency in internal medicine and diabetes at Graduate Hospital he opened a practice in Trenton, New Jersey. He was elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Krosnick was instrumental in research proving the efficacy of combination long and short acting animal derived insulin and later, biosynthetic human insulin. His fine medical writing earned him editorial-ship of the New Jersey Medical Journal, Diabetes Forecast Magazine and Acta Pharmaceutica. He received numerous accolades and awards including a lifetime achievement award from the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Krosnick retired from medical practice at the age of 81 and moved to Scottsdale Arizona with his wife to enjoy retirement in the southwest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Rose Krosnick or Trenton New Jersey and his 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn R. Krosnick, 87 of Scottsdale Arizona, his son, Jon Krosnick, of Palo Alto California and daughter, Jody Rodgers of Holts Summit, Missouri. He has 4 grandchildren.
