Templin, Max Lewis III
81, of Peoria, AZ went to be with his Lord on April 22, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dovie, sons Tom (Jo Ann), Michael (Georgia), David (Tammy) and daughter Shelli (Derek) Romero. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother Howard (Barbara) Templin. Max graduated from Edna High School and then Texas A&M in 1953. He joined the US Air Force in Nov. 1953 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served in Viet Nam and later as a fighter pilot. He retired in 1975 as a Lt. Colonel. He earned the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze Stars, the Air Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and multiple other medals and awards. Max went to work at Marriott's Camelback Inn in 1977 and retired as Director of Safety and Security in 1992. Traveling, RVing, and a summer home in Munds Park, AZ kept him busy after retiring. He was an active and founding member of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Glendale, AZ. Max will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Memorial service with a luncheon will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 4102 W. Union Hills Glendale, AZ. The Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the VA National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers the Templin family requests donations be made to the Max & Dovie Foundation at the church. Funeral arrangements made by Sunland Funeral Home
