Willys Drayton "Willy" Green

1941 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Green, Willys "Willy" Drayton
Willys Drayton Green, 72, of Tempe, Arizona, formerly from Kansas City, Missouri, passed away February 3rd, 2014. Willy was born September 27th, 1941 in Excelsior Springs Missouri to Floyd and Nettie Green and was one of eight brothers and sisters. Willy lived 45 years in Kansas City until he and his wife Stephanie decided to go West to the warmth of Tempe Arizona. He lived in Tempe for 27 years and proudly worked as a professional truck driver until his retirement in 2005. He loved spending time with family and had an open invite especially when he lit the grill, and he made sure the cookie jar was full for kids of all ages, including himself. You could always catch Willy whistling and singing and he was more than happy to share his singing "talents" if you were within ear shot. He enjoyed visiting with friends at the VFW and American Legion which also allowed him to showcase his singing "talents", move over Frank Sinatra. Willy was an Army veteran that spoke often of his travels through Europe as a teenager. He enjoyed many veteran events and fundraisers; one of his favorites was the poppy campaign as he would often sing a tune to the donating people. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years Stephanie Green, four children Kimberly Louis, Pamele Inzerillo, Paul Green, Michael Moretina, two grandchildren, Steven (Stevi Rue) Louis and Antoinette Moretina, two great grandchildren Michael and Joseph Louis, two brothers Dean (Jo Ann) Green and Thomas (Naida) Green, two sisters Loretta Fluty and Candice (Jonathan) Bierly, 26 nieces and nephews, and 52 great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Tempe Mortuary on Friday February 7th at 3:00pm. Tempe Mortuary, 405 E Southern Ave Tempe, AZ 85282, 480.967.1643. The family requests in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
