Passed away at the age of 85 on March 15, 2014 with his family by his side. Floyd was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and brother. He was born on February 14, 1929 in Childs, Maryland to Carl and Susie Hines, the youngest of seven children. Floyd graduated from Elkton High School where he was active in sports and the school band. He met his wife, Millie, of 62 years at the VA Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland where they were both worked. He was a proud member of the Maryland National Guard for several years. Floyd was a business man who moved to Arizona in 1980 eventually becoming a partner in Southwest Marketing. He was an active member of the First Christian Church of Scottsdale where he sang in the choir and assisted with the Keenagers Group. Floyd loved golf and played several times a week until he was disabled by his first stoke in 2005. He then became an avid member of the Mayo Clinic Stoke Support Group. He will be remembered for his ever-lasting humor and fun loving personality. Floyd is survived by his loving wife Millie, son Robert Hines (wife Connie), daughter Debbie Hines (husband Scott Hurley), grandchildren Scott Hines (wife Sarah), Heather Hurley, Christopher Hurley, great grandchildren Payten and Conner Hines and brother Earl Hines. A visitation will be held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd. Thursday March 20, 2014 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church of Scottsdale, 7405 E. McDonald Dr. on Friday March 21, 2014 at 1 pm. Burial to follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd. Contributions in Floyd Hines name can be made in lieu of flowers to the Mayo Clinic Arizona Stoke Support Group, 5777 E. Mayo Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85054
