Dora Kisner, 74 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully March 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Kenny and her brother, Rodolfo. Dora was born to Agustin Varela and Francisca Carrazco on November 8, 1939 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico and moved to Arizona in the early 1960's. In 1995 Dora became a proud US Citizen and learned a great deal about the US Constitution. She was the adored Mother, Grandma, Nana and Great-Nana to 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was also a beloved Tia to a host of nephews and nieces. Dora loved cooking and caring for her family and friends. She also enjoyed working as an in-home caregiver to the elderly and to those no longer able to care for themselves. Dora is survived by her children; Ken and Cherie Kisner of Colleyville, TX, Ruben and Patricia Varela of Surprise, AZ, Frank Kisner and Chris Kinnear of Chicago, IL, Ron and Annette Smith of Glendale, AZ, and Dennis and Yvonne Rossmell of Phoenix, AZ. Her siblings, Irene, Esthela, Elvia, Hector and Agustin also survive. Dora loved baseball and delighted in watching the Diamondbacks. She now has the best seat in the house to watch "her boys" play. Visitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road in Peoria, AZ on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M with Rosary from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, April 4 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Louis the King Catholic Church, 4331 W. Maryland in Glendale, AZ with interment to follow at 1:30 P.M. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix.
