Gilbert, AZ, passed away 4/6/2014 after a short but courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. He was born in Trumann, Arkansas, September 5, 1951. He attended schools there and then in Rockford, IL where he met Marilyn, his wife of 45 years. He leaves behind his wife, their two children, Kelly McGuirk (Michael) of Chandler, AZ; and Christopher Wages (Kira) of Buffalo, Wyoming, and 6 grandchildren. Glen retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company, Montgomery, IL after 30 years of service. The family lived in Montgomery, IL for many years before moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1999. After moving Glen worked for his daughter's business for a while but his main job became caring for his granddaughter Makenzie while her Mom worked. Hours and hours were spent watching her and her friends as they played outside till dark many nights. Makenzie was the main reason for the transition to Phoenix and Glen treasured all the times he spent with her. His Grandchildren were always his favorite topic. Glen loved the Lord and enjoyed serving him at Lynwood Baptist Church in Oswego, IL and attended Palmcroft Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ. Additionally, Glen is survived by his brothers Joe Turner (Donna) Jonesboro, AR and LeRoy Turner (Helen) of Payneway, AR and his sister Florence (Tom) of Houston, TX. Also surviving him are his brother-in-law, Paul Michael (Cathy) McKinney, TX and sister-in-law Maxine Vogen (Jon) Glendale, AZ and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. Glen was a man who loved many people deeply, but no one more than his immediate and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Flossie Turner, brothers, Carroll, Marion, and Billy; sister Johnnye; his mother-in-law, Virgie Michael and father-in-law, Max Michael of Phoenix, AZ. He will be so deeply missed. We were helped along on this sad journey by Dr. Sumeet Mendonca, a wonderful doctor for whom Glen cared so much, and by the sweet nurses at Dobson Home, Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements will be handled by Falconer Funeral Home, Gilbert, AZ. A memorial service for friends and family to honor and remember Glen will be held Saturday, April 12, 2pm at LifeLink Church, 725 W Warner Road, Gilbert, AZ. 602-885-1946.
