Gerald Antonio Apicella Obituary
Apicella, Gerald Antonio
known to his family and many friends simply as "Jerry," passed away April 24, 2014 at the age of 62. Born June 13, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Jerry's family moved to Phoenix in the late 50s, where he attended St. Vincent dePaul elementary school and graduated from Maryvale High. He chose a career in real estate and for over four decades was a proud member of the Phoenix Board of Realtors. For Jerry, this work was more than a job; it was labor of love. Over his long career he served the interests of hundreds of individuals and families and made hundreds of friends along the way. Jerry cared about people, not property. He was a long-time contributor and enthusiastic supporter of the McKenna Youth Foundation, as well being instrumental in the founding of the Arizona Asthma Foundation's Camp Not-A-Wheeze for children living with asthma. He also served as a member of the board of the Phoenix YMCA. He was a fun-loving, witty, loving man devoted to his family and his many friends in Phoenix and in San Diego, where he resided part of the year. Jerry is survived by his daughter Michelle Bradovich, his grandsons Chase and Ayden, his brothers Keith and John and their families, all of whom will miss him terribly. A memorial service will be held this Wednesday 4/31 at 1:00 pm at Hansen's Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, with a reception following at Aunt Chilada's at The Pointe. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations in Jerry's name to Camp Not-A-Wheeze or the .
