Griffin, Bill
Passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with several life-threatening illnesses. Bill was a strong yet gentle man who showed his loving family and many friends the true meaning of strength and dignity in his hard-fought battle. Always a family man, Bill leaves behind his sweetheart and forever devoted wife of 54 years, Joanne Marie ("Love you More!") and together they raised three very special children, Jodi (Deceased) of San Antonio, TX, Wendi (Burt) of Gypsum, CO and her husband Tony, and son Cary of Gypsum, CO (and wife Kerri). Bill was also the proud grandfather ("Papa") of 7, as well as 11 great grandchildren. Bill will also be greatly missed by his brother Clyde of Bakersfield, CA (wife Patty), brother Jack of Ridgecrest, CA, sister Sandra Vines (husband Stanley) of Alabama and predeceased by sister Jeanette Dunn of Ridgecrest, CA and family. Nephew David Condon (wife Ruth) of Chandler, AZ, niece Shelley Harrison of Bend, OR, and nephew Jeff Sgobba (wife Cyndi) of Solvang, CA. David, Ruth and Shelley were privileged to be with Bill at his passing. Bill was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Mike Sgobba of the Diamondbacks, but Mike's wife Ingrid remains, as well as their children Bill Moore of Scottsdale, AZ, Pamela Sporrer of Chino Hills, CA, and Debbie Kindstrand of Fullerton, CA and all their families. Bill's sister-in-law Corrine Schnur of Topanga, CA is also left behind, as well as numerous dear, caring friends in both CA & AZ. Born on August 3, 1938 in Demmitt, TX to William and Molly Griffin and Molly later married John Howery, Bill's stepfather. Raised in Ridgecrest, CA where he met the love of his life, Bill and Jo married on June 13, 1959 and raised their family in Simi Valley, CA prior to their move to Cave Creek in 1998. Bill was an excellent machinist for 30 years prior to retiring, yet was a "Jack of All Trades" including auto mechanics, tile work, masonry BBQ's, upholstery work and the like, always willing and ready to lend a helping hand. Jo and Bill loved to travel to Hawaii and Colorado and enjoyed many cruises, and going to the Diamondback games. A celebration of life will be held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd. in Scottsdale on Saturday, June 21st at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Tatum Ranch Clubhouse, 29811 N. Tatum Blvd. in Cave Creek. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Grace or any . With sadness in our hearts we say goodbye for now but, as always, "Love you MORE"!
