Wolf, Walter A.
July 23, 1921 - May 21, 2014. Walter was born to William L. and Bessie Wolf in Denton, Texas. Growing up he lived in Texas, New Mexico, California, and Arizona the past 68 years. Walter was a Pilot and served in the Air Force during WWII and was reactivated during the Korean conflict ferrying cargo and service personnel to and from Japan and Korea. He retired with the rank of Captain. Walter and his father established Wolf and Son Garage in 1946 which they built from the ground up and enjoyed many valued customers and mechanics throughout the next fifty plus years. Walter was an avid golfer and received many awards including several hole-in-ones. He loved music, dancing, and was very dedicated to his physical exercise routine. Preceding Walter in death were: His parents, two sisters Dessie Martin and Polly Korb. Brothers-in-law Roscoe Martin, Bill Harris, Bill Wright, Gale Hobbs, and Edward Korb. Nephews Gene Baldree, Eddie Korb, and Niece Karen Hobbs. Twenty-year companion Ann Mriss, and his beloved dog Buffy. Walter's survivors include his sisters: Marie Cain (Frank), Billie Wright, Jo Harris, Evelyn Hobbs (Charles), Audie Wolf, and Jeannette Hobbs. Surviving also are many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and his little dog Rosie. Walter was much loved by all of his extended family and friends and will be greatly missed. We rejoice in knowing he loved Jesus and looked forward to going home. Services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix. Visitation 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m., followed by graveside service at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
