Tommie Jean Stewart Obituary
Stewart, Tommie Jean
Tommie Jean Stewart passed away on May 21, 2014 at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born in San Francisco, California on April 30, 1943 to William Thomas Stewart and Betty Jean Stewart, who preceded her in death. Tommie had fond memories of growing up in Imperial Beach, California, and maintained lifelong friendships with several classmates from Mar Vista High School and grade school. She was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. She became a successful mortgage banker and real estate investor during her professional career in California. Tommie loved traveling, enjoying road trips in the U.S. and cruising all over the world. She had a love-hate relationship with the game of golf for many years. She was an avid reader and talented writer. She loved to think about the world and often opined about the condition of humanity. She was funny, witty, generous, and had a heart of gold toward her friends and family. Tommie retired to Phoenix, Arizona in 2006, and was a good friend and ongoing comfort to family, friends and neighbors. She never wanted to miss an event or gathering, despite her declining health. Tommie is survived by her extended family and friends from all over the country. A celebration of Tommie's life will be held locally from 4pm - 6pm on Friday, June 6th at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, Az 85013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommie's memory to Amnesty International, the Wounded Warrior Project www.WoundedWarriorProject.org/Donate or the Arizona Humane Society, www.azhumane.org.
