Wilma Jean Scott Obituary
Scott, Wilma Jean "Billie" Coe
Wilma passed to rest on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in Wray, Colorado on November 16, 1929, to parents William Duncan and Lola Ellen (Lohr) Coe. She grew up in nearby Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, where she graduated high school (1947). She attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, earning her B.S. in Medical Technology (1951), her professional field for 4 decades. A fond memory for Wilma in that time was playing Sousaphone in the school's marching band. She married William Scott in February, 1952 and moved with him to California where her only child, Myron Duncan Scott, was born in December. The marriage ended in 1953, and she moved to Mesa where she resided until her death, being a wonderful single mom, a grandma and great-grandma across those years. Beyond family and friends, many from her Sunday School class at Trinity Baptist Church, she had great joy over the years in summer days at her cabin at the top of Pinal Peak, traveling, and involvement in youth sports. She was so well respected in her work that her office retained the title, "Scott's Clinical Laboratory" even 15 years after she had moved on. She was preceded in death by both parents, Donald Duncan "Buddy" Coe (brother) and sister Myrtle Ellen Coe Keefe (sister). Surviving immediate family members include Loreta Walker of Blacksburg, Virginia (sister) and Myron Duncan Scott (son) and his wife Mary Kay Scott, both of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday June 7th at 2:00 PM at Trinity Church, 2130 E. University Dr. in Mesa. A viewing will be held prior, starting at 1:00 PM. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements.
