Pensinger, Charles
C.M. (Chuck) Pensinger was born 11 January 1929 to Wallace and Ethel Pensinger in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family moved to Arizona in 1933. Chuck was raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Kenilworth Elementary school, North Phoenix High school, Phoenix College and attended both the University of Arizona in Tucson and Arizona State University in Tempe. While in High school he was a member of Esquire Fraternity at Phoenix College a member of Tau Omega Fraternity and pledged Phi Delta Thea at the U of A. He married Marriel J. (Slaughter) on 11 February 1950. They made their home in Buckeye, Arizona and then moved to Coolidge, Arizona in 1955. They returned to Phoenix in 1959. They lived in Phoenix until 1981 when they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ, in 1993 they moved to Sun City, AZ. Chuck was active in the Lions Clubs in Buckeye, Coolidge and Phoenix. He was a member of the IOOF, Elks, Phoenix, Chamber of Commerce, Hoo Hoo International. Chuck was a leader in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion Baseball. He was a member of the Peoria American Legion Civil Defense Director of Pinal County. Chuck was an avid, but not so good golfer, East Valley U of A Alumni Ass's., Cottonwood Country Club and Riverview Mensa golf Ass'n. Chuck worked in the building material supply business for over 50 years. Chuck loved going to his Moms and Dads Ranch in the White Mountains at Nutrioso. The family started going to the Mountains in 1935, loved them. Dad and Mom bought the ranch in 1944. In those days there was not electricity in the area, kerosene lamps, candles, etc., no heater in the house but a pump behind the house. Every spring back to the ranch to mend fences, cut wood, fill the snow house with snow, etc.. Move the cattle to the pasture about 5 miles away, what fun! Enjoying the haunting and fishing trips, many good times. He enjoyed going to the beaches of Southern California. Chuck enjoyed to travel, especially cursing. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve and his wife Marriel. He is survived by son Greg (Anne), grandsons Leaon, and Jared (Robyn) and Emry (Katie), great Granddaughters Kayla and Emily, Great Grandsons Ivan, Jayden, Eli and Wyatt, Brother in law Bob Slaughter (Norma) sister in law Louise Slaughter, 21 nieces and nephews. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Burial, private, a memorial of his life will be held at Serenity Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery Chapel, 2300 E. Van Buren Phoenix, AZ 85009 on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Advantage Colonial Chapel, 4141 N. 19th Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85015.
