1929 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
Norma Lyn Vaughn Obituary
Vaughn, Norma Lyn (Love)
84, peacefully passed into the Lord's tender and loving hands on the morning of June 11, 2014, in the presence of her family. Norma was born on September 11, 1929, in Quail, Texas, and was very proud of her Texas accent. She was the second child of the late Charles and Genevra Love, and Gano Love's little sister. Norma and Gano enjoyed an especially close relationship from their early childhood on their parents' Texas ranch where every day Gano's horse, Lightning, carried them to the road where the school bus picked them up for grade school, until later in life, when they talked daily and shared their thoughts, hopes and aspirations for their children. After completing her studies at Emerson Elementary School, North High School (where she was a cheerleader) and Arizona State University, Norma married the late Gene R. Vaughn with whom she had three children, Kenneth, Kevin and Kelly. Norma became a cosmetologist and business woman, owning and operating several locations of Cinderella Beauty Salon and Snow White Towel Rental during the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1980s, Norma joined North Phoenix Baptist Church, spreading the Lord's message and developing many deep and enduring friendships, especially those with Frankie, DJ, Joel, and Ruth. Norma regularly attended Bible Class and loved her Sundays with her church friends. Norma always helped those who needed help. She befriended those who needed friends or a place to go. Norma was loving, caring and helpful in every way. Norma firmly believed that family always comes first, and she loved her boys with all of her heart. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Charlie Love and Genevra (Koen). She leaves behind her beloved and only brother, Gano Love, her three loving sons, Kenneth (Julie), Kevin, and Kelly Vaughn, four grandchildren, Christopher and Colby Vaughn, Rachel Cetta and Chase Golightly, one great-grandson, Kayden Vaughn, four nieces, Anja (Ray) Segerman, Kim Love, Tina (David) Bakke, and Valerie (Joe) Marciano, and many beloved grandnieces and nephews. Gano promised his dad that he would take care of Norma, and Gano faithfully kept that promise throughout her life. Norma will be deeply missed. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85020, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the funeral service to immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. Final interment will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, Arizona. Norma's family express their special appreciation and gratitude to The Stratford, John C. Lincoln Hospital, and Serenity Hospice and their comforting and caring staff, whose personal services were above and beyond our expectations. In lieu of flowers, donations to North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central, Phoenix, AZ 85012 are encouraged. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
