84, of Chandler, AZ. passed away on June 19, 2014. Dominic John Savino of Chandler, AZ passed away on June 19, 2014 at the age of 84. Dom was born and raised in New York City . He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He met his wife Suzi at the Army Signal Depot in Sacramento, California, where Dom was stationed and Suzi worked as a clerk. They married on September 19, 1953 and moved to Hicksville, Long Island, N.Y. Dom had his own business distributing Arnold Bread. He also served as a Captain with the Hicksville Fire Department. Then in 1977, he moved his family to Tempe, AZ. Dom retired with the City of Tempe in 1995. He enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, playing pinochle at the Chandler Senior Center, and spending time with his family and friends. Dom will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor, his wonderful stories, and his infectious, outgoing personality. If you met him, you didn't forget him. He will lovingly be remembered by his 4 children and 7 grandchildren: Michael Savino and his wife Pat; Grandchildren Michael and Matthew. Ken Savino and his wife Lisa; Grandchildren Jason and Justin. Mary Davis and her husband Barry; Grandchildren Lindsay and Jared. Joanne Kooyman and her husband Steve; Granddaughter Danielle. Visitation from 10 am till 11 am on Tuesday, June 24th with funeral mass following at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3450 West Ray Road,Chandler. Lunch reception to follow in the Social Hall at 12 noon. Internment is at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix at 2pm. Arrangements by Tempe Mortuary.
