Sallie Lee Terman, 83, of Phoenix, died July 2, 2014 after a brief illness with family and close friends at her side. Sallie was born March 18, 1931 in Regina, Canada, daughter of Harry and Anne Sorsky She is survived by her son, Bruce and his fiancee Jeanette; daughter, Andrea Eiermann and her husband, Bob; son Aaron Grieff and his wife Nicole; daughter-in-law Mary Lou Terman; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Phil Altman and his partner Lauren, brother Sheldon Altman, cousins Nancy Filkow and Peggy Walker and their families. Sallie cherished her many dear friends and neighbors and a very special bond of love, appreciation and care with Don and Nancy Alpert. Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, and son, Dean, who died just 1 year ago. The day before Sallie's death would have been Sallie and Earl's 48th wedding anniversary. Their love affair took them all over the world with their best friends, Lila and Jerry Markowitz. Sallie earned degrees in Psychology and Criminology, Public Relations and Media Studies, Criminal Justice, and a teaching scholarship in Urban education. After receiving her Master's degree in Criminal Justice, she taught classes in Criminology, Law in America, and Deviance at Northern Arizona University. She also taught Public Relations classes at Arizona State University. Sallie's true area of expertise was in Criminal Justice as well as Jewish gangsters. She was a professor at Scottsdale Community College up until the time of her death, teaching classes in Criminology, including Sex Crimes and Serial and Mass Murder. The curriculum for the Serial and Mass Murder class was developed by Sallie and her late husband, Earl. Her classes have been attended by many police officers and other members of the justice system. She was a frequent lecturer on the subject of Jewish gangsters. Sallie and Earl were founding members of Beth Ami Temple in Paradise Valley. Sallie continued to be an active member of the congregation until her death, currently on the Board of Trustees, hosting Torah study at her house and chairing many committees, most recently the New Membership committee. She also loved movies and belonged to a movie group, audio books, listening to the radio, ginger snaps, and See's candy. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 6, at Sinai Mortuary, 4538 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ, followed by her burial at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, AZ. The family has requested that those wishing to send flowers consider making a donation to Temple Beth Ami, c/o Rabbi Arthur Abrams, 3104 E. Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
