Robert C. Connors Obituary
Connors, Robert C.
Known to his friends as "Cowboy Bob", he was born in Syracuse, NY on February 1, 1956 and he died unexpectedly in his sleep on July 11, 2014, at the too-young-to-die age of 58. With his parents Barbi and Tiny, and (at that time) four siblings, Bobby moved from Dallas, TX to Scottsdale, AZ in 1964. While at Kiva Elementary he joined the Boy Scouts … Troop 441. He worked hard at being a good scout and eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout…. the best one can be. Bobby's passion was always horses, cattle and ranching. At an early age Bobby had his own horse and began his cowboy career leading trail rides for The Horse Country Club. He learned how to rope, de-horn, brand, castrate and doctor cattle and was a wrangler for several Maricopa County horse/cow operations. An early member of Paradise Valley Mounted Posse and a past member of the Scottsdale JC's Bobby absolutely loved being involved (even peripherally) with all the trappings of the Rodeo and the Parada Del Sol, not to mention riding on the Old Scottsdale High Alumni Float each year. Bob also cherished his pictures with "The Duke", John Wayne, taken while attending annual cattle auctions at the 26 Bar Ranch. Later, when his eyesight would no longer permit him to ride horses, Bobby enjoyed four wheeling with his good friend Mike and riding the Scottsdale Trolley. His friends and family will never forget his birthday calls where he would always brighten our day with a song and we will miss his chipper voice belting out "This is Cowboy Bob, can I help you?" Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary. Services will be private.
