Henry, Rebecca Jean (nee Hacker)

63 years old of Scottsdale, died on July 29, 2014. Rebecca was diagnosed with Primary Peritoneal Cancer and fought this disease for 2 1/2 years before she succumbed. Rebecca is survived by her husband, Paul R. Henry. The couple would have been married 40 years on August 9, 2014. She is also survived by her daughter, Dr. Sara Henry of Phoenix and by her son Fr. Matthew Henry of Mesa. She is also survived by her mother Grace Hacker; her sister Judith Lamson; and her brothers Ted Hacker and David Hacker. Rebecca graduated from Arizona State in 1973, and then received her Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin. She spent most of her professional career (25 years) as a Reference Librarian with the City of Scottsdale. She loved her career as a Librarian. She enjoyed reading all kinds of books and watching British TV mysteries. She liked to travel to see old historic churches and homes. Becky became Catholic in 1993. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and was involved in many church ministries. Most of all, Rebecca was a loving wife and mother. She took care of her flock like no other. Vigil will be Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial with reception to follow will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. both to be at Saint Theresa Parish, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix. Family burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine: www.cancershrine.org.
