Roberta Nash Layton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born on July 19, 1918 in Safford, Az. and is the daughter of Robert and Vivian Nash. She is preceded in death by her husband, L. R. Layton and daughter Joan Bethea (Daryl). She was a loving mother of four children and will be greatly missed by Robert (Dianne), Kaye Andersen (Darl) and Keith (Shauna). She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities in her community and church. She was a talented and refined lady and was known for her love of music, ability to write and direct road shows, and she directed the Arizona Temple Easter Pageant for many years. She served a mission with her husband in the California Anaheim Mission and also in the Presidency of the Arizona Temple. She has a great posterity. With her 4 children she has 31 grand children and 108 great grand children. She will always be remembered for her kind and loving example and great parties. We express our sincere gratitude for the support of the Golden Age Care Home and Hospice of the Valley. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gilbert Stake Center, 777 E. Elliot Road in Gilbert. The viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. She will be interred at the Mesa City Cemetery. Instead of flowers, please donate to your ward missionary fund.
