Wellington, Michael John (Beef)
56, died on August 22, 2014 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is survived by his mother Judy Gardner, father James Wellington, stepmother Anne Wellington, all of Scottsdale, uncle Robert Jones of Mesa, sisters Joye Foti of Baton Rouge and Jaimie Shamy of Phoenix and several nieces and nephews. Mike graduated from Saguaro High School and Northern Arizona University. His career included several years as a Residential Sales representative at Arizona Public Service, Customer Service at Salt River Project and a sales representative for the Phoenix Coyotes. He also worked at the Safeway Corporate office. Mike loved sports and excelled in baseball and diving. Anytime he could go deep sea fishing in Cabo San Lucas was a good time. He was an ardent ASU football fan and was an avid reader of newspapers. He read them daily from cover to cover. Mike had an infectious and loving sense of humor and was very quick witted. Though his time with us was not long enough, he left an everlasting footprint for those who knew and loved him. When you heard somebody say "where's the beef", they were looking for Mike. At 48, Mike suffered a massive stroke and was confined to a wheel chair. He learned to handle this devastating injury exceedingly well. In memory of Mike, please do an act of kindness for someone in need. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.
