Sherrick, Lendell
86, passed away Wednesday February 3, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Sherrick, married for 62 years, three children with spouses, Robert & Jane Sherrick, Beverly and Brian Burch, Roger and Cheryl Sherrick, 10 grand children, 30 great grand children, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and acquaintances throughout the states. Born February 4, 1929 in Lima, OH, he enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and then transferred to the Army served honorably for 21 years in the service. He retired in 1967, Ret. US Army, Sargent 1st Class E7. Lendell moved to Phoenix in 1969 working in the insurance industry as a Safety Engineer retiring in 1990. Lendell and Martha traveled the United States in their motorhome for 4 years before settling down again at Palm Lakes Village, where his passion for roses blossomed. All residents in the park knew their house with all the beautiful roses. He served his community with dignity and honor. Lendell was enthused with the outdoors from childhood. He and his brothers used to trap and tan muskrats as young boys in Ohio to earn extra money. He taught his children, grand children and great grand children from an early age the enjoyment of the outdoors. This included hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, boating, waterskiing, scuba diving, anything outdoors. Lendell took them hiking from the south rim of the Grand Canyon to the north rim, scuba diving in Mexico, fishing in Alaska, and many hunting expeditions. In his later years he joined the Bighorn Sheep Society. He really loved the work they did building water holes, bridges, relocating animals, all fun and exciting adventures. You are free to travel the world with endless adventures. We will all be there with you, you will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held Thursday February 25, 2016 at 10:00 am at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 20239 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix. A celebration of life gathering following at the clubhouse of Palm Lakes Village 16415 N. 33rd Way. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
