Hoban, Mary Rita
87 of Tempe, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2009. She was born on October 16, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the youngest child of Clarence and Mary Blankenhorn. She was united in marriage to Edward Hoban in 1941. Edward preceded her in death in 1981. Mary was a homemaker and raised seven children. She moved to Tempe, AZ in 1984, to make a new home and participate in raising her grandson, Joshua. After moving to Tempe, she was able to spend many magnificent times with her beloved brother Adam, and his wonderful family in California. For many years, Mary was an active participant of Tempe Pyle Recreation Center. She loved to dance, cook for her family, play bingo, and to tell a good joke. She was a very kind and generous woman, who had a special interest in children. Mary was the matriarch of her family. All of her children, extended family, and friends relished in the joy and love she bestowed upon them. She was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Edward (Eddie), brother and sister, Adam and Josie, nephew Don, and great-granddaughter Kendall; after a prolonged illness, her daughter, Mary Claudia O'Brien, 65, passed away on December 25, 2009, in West Hollywood, CA. Left to cherish Mary Rita's memory are her five children: Margaret (Michael) Kratochwill of Waukesha, WI; Christy (Richard) Bianchi and Claudia (Bill) Boettcher of Tempe, AZ; Timothy Hoban of CA, and Michael (Linda) Hoban of Beaver Dam, WI. Mary will also be remembered by her twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, niece Gail (Larry) Roghair, other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A memorial service honoring our beloved Mother and sister will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ. An open house will follow the services at the home of Claudia and Bill Boettcher. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary.
