Travis Paul Murphy Obituary
Murphy, Travis Paul
Travis Paul Murphy 29 -Although his name was Travis Paul Murphy, his family and friends lovingly called him "Trav." Early Wednesday morning on 05/26/2010, while performing a job he absolutely loved, our beloved "Trav" left us to be with our Lord after being killed in the line-of-duty serving his community as a Phoenix Police Officer. Travis was born in Phoenix on January 29, 1981, to parents Lance P. Murphy and Mary C. Rhodes (Richey) and he grew up in the Phoenix area graduating from Ironwood High School in 1999. Even in High School Travis knew that he want to be a cop, and he made that jump when he joined the City of Phoenix Police family in 2006. Although he loved his police family and they loved him, his heart was devoted to his beautiful wife Danielle, and their two children, 2 year old daughter Kailee Marie and 2 week old son Kody Lance. While it was well known by those who really knew him, Travis was a man of few words. Yet when Travis met Danielle, you couldn't shut him up. It was obvious that Danielle stole Travis' heart from the moment they met. Their love and commitment to each other was undeniable and they were married in October of 2006. Although Travis and Danielle's time together was tragically cut way too short, they were blessed to share many precious moments together including the birth of their daughter Kailee in February 2008 and the birth of their new son Kody on May 08, 2010. Travis was a caring and devoted father whose love for his children and hands-on approach was nothing less than perfection. And although Travis was a perfectionist, there were many facets to who he was. He was equal parts husband, father, son, golfer, cook, comedian, financial planner, and he approached everything with the attitude that if it couldn't be done right, then it wasn't worth doing in the first place. Unfortunately, he was born without that filter in his brain that tactfully held back brutal honesty. His position was if you didn't want an honest answer, you probably shouldn't have asked the question. Travis was preceded in death by his grandfather Jim Murphy, grandmother Shirley Murphy, and father Lance Murphy. Travis is survived by his wife Danielle, daughter Kailee, son Kody, mother Mary Rhodes (Richey), stepfather Martin Rhodes, step brother Michael Rhodes, grandparents Conrad and Barbara Richey, stepmother Theresa Murphy, father and mother-in-law John and Shelley Campbell, Brother -in-law Troy Campbell (Lisa), Sister-in-law Amber Jones (Andrew) and a huge family of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. It is our prayer that the lives of those he loved and touched will be forever changed. The legacy of his unselfish sacrifice will be forever engrained in our minds and hearts and shall be carried on from generation to generation through his beautiful children. He shall never be forgotten and will remain a Hero to all of us who he served to protect. We Love you Travis, and you truly shall be missed! In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make your donation to the 100 Club of Arizona info@100club.org. Visitation will be on Tues. 06/01/2010 from 5-8-pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel @ 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ. Funeral will be held Wed. 06/02/2010 at 10 am at Christ Church of the Valley (CCV) 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, AZ.
