George A. Hunt, 74 of Mesa AZ passed away at his home on Aug. 15, 2010 with the love and attention of his beloved wife Joanne. George was born Oct. 18, 1935 in St. Paul, MN, the son of the late George and Florence (Betzler) Hunt. George spent 36 years delivering mail in St. Paul, MN where he was loved by the people he served. He moved to Mesa, AZ in 1997 with his wife Joanne and spent their retirement years volunteering and enjoying new friends. In 1990 he discovered a passion and talent for wood carving, became a prize winner in that art and was well known in the wood carving field. George was a good decent man, who loved his family and friends and was a master of corny jokes. George grew up in St. Paul, MN, attended Holy Spirit school, graduated from Cretin High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He is survived by his wife Joanne, daughter: Deb Hunt, Shoreview, MN; son: Tim Hunt, Richfield, MN; brother: Bill (Nancy) Hunt Medford, OR; sister: Judy (Bob) DeNardo, Egan, MN; step-daughter: Jean (Tom) McCarthy, St. Croix Beach, MN; step-son: Mark (Gayle) Nadler, St. Paul Park, MN; beloved cousin: Mary Jo Kerr, Long Beach, CA; plus numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and a step-son: Michael Nadler. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 6:00 pm at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ. with the family to receive friends from 5:00 pm until the hour of service at 6:00. The family wishes to give special thanks to Hospice of the Valley, especially Angela and Barb, and all who helped make his journey peaceful.
