Wadsworth, Gilbert Alexander Jr.,
81, died Saturday November 5th at his home in Mesa following an 8-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Catherine, his son Gilbert Alexander Wadsworth III, his daughter Lisa Ann Mahan (Phillips), his sister Linda LaPorta (Edward), two grandchildren, Chelsea Rae Wadsworth, and Amea Li Wadsworth, pre-deceased by Grandson Gareth Ross Wadsworth Cochran, and many close friends. Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, the son of Gilbert Senior and Dorothy Wadsworth, he lived the majority of his life in Maryland before finally settling down in Mesa where he spent his remaining years. Mr. Wadsworth attended Baltimore City College and the Maryland Institute of Art and Design before embarking on a successful mechanical and industrial design career. He also attended the Peabody Institute of Music. In 1951 he joined the Maryland National Guard. After his service with the National Guard, Mr. Wadsworth was instrumental in the development and design of many scientific instruments used within the fields of medicine, Space technology, and optics. Mr. Wadsworth had a passion for music composition and composed throughout his lifetime. Several of his compositions have been used in Feature Films and Television. Mr. Wadsworth had an enthusiasm for most things creative and artistic. No public service was held, only a private ceremony.
