James Rich Obituary

Rich, James "Jim" Keith
August 1, 1956 to February 16, 2012. Jim was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. For the majority of his youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from East High School in 1974. He attended ASU and was a fraternity brother in Pi Kappa Alpha. Jim began working in the restaurant business at age fifteen and continued for the next forty years. Most recently, he was the Food and Beverage Manager at Talking Stick Resort and Casino, a job he truly loved. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family. One of his favorite activities was watching his children participate in sports. Jim is survived by his father John, sister Cynthia, wife Nancy, daughters Francis and Lana, and son Samuel. Jim was loved dearly by his family and will be truly missed by all. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boy Scouts of America or Hospice of the Valley.

I remember James as JR, manager of Bill Johnson's Big Apple (West). JR was always the man with a smile on face and a kind word. The most memorable moment I have of JR is when I was pregnant and the night shift had a lotto going as to when I'd have my child. JR picked his birthday and time of birth... Well he won. My daughter was born August 01, 1981 @ 12:43 am. I always think of him on my daughters birthday. I'm so glad to hear he had a family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. He Will be missed. R.I.P. JR.

Greetings, I know Jim as JR. He was an influential part of my life in the early 80's at the the Big Apple. The amazing thing about Jim was that he had very high expectations of his employees and his work ethic made an enormous impact on me in my early 20's. He taught the importance of quality before "quality" was an industry buzzword. I have many, many fond memories of JR at the west side Apple.
I guess my point to the family is this: he truly was one of a kind and will be dearly missed and more then anything, I am glad he had a family to love and laugh with in his life.

Growing up Jim lived on the same street as I did. Jim was also a member or our Boy Scout Troop and I have many fond memories of our time spent in scouting.
Jim was a good “kid” and I'm sure he went on to be a good husband and father. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
My sincere condolences to the Rich family.

Daddy,

Thank you for being the most amazing father anyone could ever dream of having. I miss you so much. I don't know what to do anymore; I'm so lost and confused without you in my life. You were the backbone of our family, my role model, my daddy. I love you.

I would like to start by saying how much our family loves Jim and his family. Jim was always there with a helping hand, an idea, or an insightful approch to a situation. I also enjoyed his humanness, he was quick witted, spontaneous, and firm in his beliefs. He loved his family & cared about his friends. I spent many hours watching our sons & youngest daughters play roller hockey. Our Harts go out to Nancy for the loss of your husband & friend and to Francis, Sam, & Lana for the loss of a father, friend, & mentor. Everyone who spent time with Jim will surely miss him. Our Love to you all! The Houtz family
