Shannon Moorehead Obituary

Moorehead, Dr. Shannon (Kaub)
Dr. Shannon (Kaub) Moorehead was born on April 14, 1972 in Janesville, Wisconsin and died unexpectedly in Phoenix, Arizona on March 8, 2012. Her parents are Lowell and Sandra (Scott) Kaub. After graduating from Parker High School in 1990, Shannon attended the University of Wisconsin and then the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Shannon married Lewis Moorehead of Wisconsin Dells on July 15, 1995. Shannon is survived by her parents, husband Lewis, and children Joshua, Ethan, and Jacob, sister Heather (Matthew) Moeller and niece and nephew Jillian and Jake Moeller. In her professional life, Shannon was a doctor in the deepest sense. She was not only exceptionally skilled and competent but she cared about her patients and healed them. She was considerate and compassionate and touched the lives of countless mothers and babies. Shannon loved babies and worked with all her strength and skill to protect them, keep them healthy, and make them safe. She was a respected leader in her profession and will be terribly missed by her colleagues, patients, and the many babies that she delivered. In her personal life, Shannon will be remembered by her family and friends for her unconditional love and compassion for others. She had an amazingly wonderful heart that touched the lives of so many. She was taken from all of us far too early and will be greatly missed and always remembered. We love you mommy! Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary & Memorial Park, 6500 East Bell Rd, Scottsdale from 5 - 8 pm. Please join us in a celebration of her life on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at a Commitment Ceremony at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary & Memorial Park from 2:30 - 3 pm followed by a Memorial Service at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 East Greenway Rd, Scottsdale from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. As a patient of Dr. Moorehead iam heart broken that she was taken from us so soon. She was my first obgyn since I moved to Arizona from New York. I established excellent trust and connection with her and her office. Fast forward almost 20 yrs later I still go to the same exact office where she saw me as a patient hoping to find her there someday. Although I know she has passed on, her memory will live on inside my mind and heart. I talk about her to my kids that she had helped me deliver. I hope her family has & will continue to keep her name and spirit alive for centuries to come. My condolences.

I think of you and your boys often. I mean how can I not???....you were different...unlike any Dr. I've known. And you brought one of my girls into this world 5yrs ago and then again a yr after that. From time to time I see in my emails that someone has made a new entry on here for you...I've thought to myself...hmmm....I think I'm gonna write on there again.
My heart hurts when I see your beautiful smiling face on here. I think to myself how someone as sweet, nice and precious as you can be gone from this world so early in her life??? I hope you are at peace and are watching over your boys. May you R.I.P ❤

Like so many others that were blessed with your presence, I too am so honored to have had you take such an important role in mine and my daughter's life. You made my first pregnancy a great and comforting experience. I had planned to have you for the rest of my pregnancies, and I will think of you with each one because of how wonderful you were. My husband and I truly respected you and we miss you. I pray for your family every day. There aren't enough eloquent words to express how great a person you were, caring, loving, comforting and list goes on. Again, it's been a blessing.

You were so much more than a doctor to me. I am finding it so hard to find closure with no answers as to why you left us so soon. Shannon became my doctor and friend 11 years ago. She delivered my second son. She helped me through the death of my mother to ovarian cancer and was there for me when I tested positive to the BRCA 1 gene. She was there for me for my major hurdles of a hysterectomy and menopause at 34 years old and a bilateral mastectomy at 37. It was her I turned to and trusted for advice and a shoulder to cry on. We talked about our families at every visit. I have never had a doctor so caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. I feel blessed to have known her and she will always be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I cannot believe you are gone. We are heartbroken to learn of the loss of such a beautiful soul. I was blessed enough to get to know Dr. Moorehead by coincidence actually. I was 35 weeks pregnant, miserable, angry with my OB, and still throwing up with other fun complications. Dr. Moorehead happened to be performing a C-section next door and agreed on the spot to take me on as a patient. While other doctors had told me to just live with it, Dr. Moorehead told me about how she threw up every day AND went on to have a subsequent pregnancy. Boy I had never known a doctor could comfort me so effortlessly! I'll never forget that Dr. Moorehead brought her three sweet boys to the hospital to deliver my son. Everybody says things like “I hope she is at peace now” when these things happen, but Dr. Moorehead was always at peace. I guess my hope is that she gets the good night's sleep that she deserves so much. Moorehead/Kaub families, thank you so much for sharing your precious Shannon with us. The world is a better place because of Dr. Moorehead and all of the lives that she changed.

As you are laid to rest today I am saying some special prayers and coming to terms with the reality that you are no longer here. I know God is welcoming you into his kingdom with a warm and comforting embrace. I treasure every memory we share, will always hold you dear to my heart and until we meet again, know that you touched thousands of lives in nothing but positive ways. Thank you for blessing me with your guidance, knowledge, love and friendship. Thank you for being my physician for four years as well and delivering our three daughters. You gave me an opportunity no other physician would have. Having you by my side will always be treasured both in memory and in our girls' scrapbooks. Love you my friend! My wish and hope is that your three beautiful boys will grow up knowing what a fabulous mother they had and they are truly blessed because of you. In honor of you: Do not stand at my grave and weep...I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain, when you awake in the mornings hush. I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft star-shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry...I am not there. I did not die. Love and Hugs for All Eternity, The Aljets Family

After attending the service today, I feel such a loss for Dr. Moorehead's family. Your grief is so very hard now. Our God is well acquainted with grief, and He recognizes it in us. In your case you have lost much, and your hearts are in tatters. But please realize this: you have not lost Him. He has counted every tear running down your face. He has been through every sleepless night. He has not abandoned you. He is the same God who has loved us and provided all of our needs. Our present circumstances do not change His character. Our pain does not erase His goodness or cancel out His faithfulness. He has not forgotten us. He will give us what we need to keep going. The pastor today acknowledged that we live in a "broken world". We experience losses which cannot be explained. However we don't have to go through this pain alone. We have a God that loves us and who's Spirit can help heal our broken hearts. I will continue to pray for your family.

I will always remember her. We will keep her family in our prayers. May God keep you in his arms at this time in your life. Sally and family

Dr. Moorehead I cannot believe you have been taking from us so soon. You delivered both my babies, the first one I almost lost and you did so with amazing sense of compassion and genuine care. Your way with me was incredible, you knew how to ease my concern and make me feel better. It was after having my kids you told me how intense it really was and I don't think I would of made it through without you. You were more than my doctor- you were my friend, my family, and my Angel. You can't imagine how much you will be missed.

Dr. Moorehead was nothing but the best! Each and every delivery of a precious baby meant the world to her. She was such a loving mother to her three boys and cared deeply about her family, friends, professionals and especially about each and every one of her patients that she took care of. I had the opportunity to be present on many of her deliveries and each and everyone was special. May God Bless You and I hope you are at peace, MISS YOU.

My deepest sympathy to Dr. Moorehead's family. Dr Moorehead had the gift of caring and compassion and I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with her. I will miss her pleasant demeanor, I will miss seeing her with flowers in hair, I will seeing her with her three boys, I will miss talking to her in the odd hours of the night about a patient or calling her in for a delivery. She was very special. May she rest in peace knowing that her love and caring touched many lives.

Dr. Shannon was my doctor and such a special person in my life for the last ten years. So many of my most precious memories include her and her gentle and professional attention to my health as a woman, wife, and mom to three kids. I knew her husband and kids by name and we would often talk about mommy things in addition to matters of health and the heart. I loved being her patient and just talking to her. When I had concerns in my pregnancies - and there were many - she would work really hard to reassure me and never let me feel like I was being a bother, even if I was sometimes. Her legacy will live on in my heart and in the lives of my two precious little ones she delivered. I owe my current state of health to her skilled hands as she also performed my surgery a few years ago. . . . She touched my life in so many ways and will never be replaced. I for one will never forget her and I pray for comfort and peace for her family and those who were blessed to be touched by her life. I am thankful that I can say that I was one of them. I can truly say that I loved having her as my doctor and a fellow mom of three precious kids. Mrs. Gina Weeks

I was privileged to know Shannon both as a physician and as a friend. Her exceptional talents bringing new life into the world everyday is a loss in the Obstetrical world. Her compassion for her patients and their families goes behind medicine, she had a heart for those in need. She was a wonderful mother and wife, and with all she had to do, was always there for them when they needed her. She was my daughters physician, and delivered all 4 of my grandchildren, and was a personnel and exceptional friend to my daughter Bridget who was her nanny. My heart and prayers go out to her parents, sister, family and all those who had the honor of being close to her. She will be greatly missed. In remembrance of Shannon, do what she did always, give your friends and family hugs daily, tell them you love them, reach out to those less fortunate, and never forget how lucky you are to be alive. I will miss you Shannon and I hope you are at peace.

How incredibly bittersweet it is to read--here and elsewhere--about the countless lives Shannon touched during her too-short time on Earth. She was an inspiration to so many of us who were fortunate to meet her along the way. My heart aches for all who will miss her, but especially for Lewis and their boys and for Heather, Lowell, and Sandy. You are all in my prayers.

My heart goes out to her family and her children. She is loved and will be truly missed- and never forgotten. All Our Love, Tanya, William and Baby Kolton Felsot

We first met Shannon as teenagers, fresh innocent faces in our first days of college. Before we knew it, four years had passed and we were young adults entering medical school together. We were honored to share a special eight years of our lives with Shannon as we all grew from kids into doctors. Her desire to always do her best along with her kindness and happy, gentle nature made her a role model for us all. We will continue to try to live by her example and be the best physicians we can be. We will miss you Shannon.
