Tormala, Derek Wayne
The Guest Book is expired.
With profound sadness, Wayne and Sue Tormala announce the passing of our beautiful son Derek Wayne Tormala (40), on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Derek was an exceptionally loving, gentle, generous man, a wonderful father to his beautiful little son, Henry James Tormala Takaki, an incredibly caring son to his mom and dad, a devoted brother to Zakary and his wife Teceta, a proud uncle of his nieces, Amalia and Naia, a loving companion of Henry's mother, Jennifer, and left a legion of loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and a wealth of friends here and around the world. Derek once said he could enjoy almost all his passions at the same time. Sitting down with a good book, a glass of wine, classical music and a good tobacco was almost a daily ritual for him. He was passionate about bowties and fedoras, his cello, good cigars and pipes, single malt scotch, was a gifted chef, had a facility for languages, loved sports (go Red Wings) and PlayStation. A memorial service to celebrate Derek's remarkable life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at Phoenix Theatre's Main Stage. Derek was not fond of hot weather, so please dress comfortably. His favorite colors were pink and purple. A memorial college fund is being established in his son's name.
