Whitmore, Vicki Ann
46, born in New Jersey, September 12, 1965, passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona, September 3, 2012, after a prolonged battle with heart disease. Vicki was a fighter and survivor from the beginning, born prematurely and weighing in at four pounds four ounces, living the first three months of her life in the neonatal unit. She approached all aspects of her life in the same plucky manner, with a tenacious, fighting spirit. The youngest of three siblings, Vicki and her family spent many summers on the Jersey Shore, with aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1977, and Vicki later graduated from Saguaro High School. Her childhood love for the warm sand, the beach, and the sound of the water continued throughout her adult life, and she traveled extensively. Vicki had a particular fondness for Jamaica, the Florida Keys, Mexico, and Coronado Island. Vicki worked tirelessly her entire adult life in the local restaurant industry. Her energies and devotion expanded to volunteer work and charities, especially Packages from Home for the troops abroad, and The Phoenix Zoo. Vicki will be remembered for her unfailing generosity, an open heart, and her unsurpassed zest for life. She is preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) H. Whitmore, Sr., and her mother, Rolanda (Ro) L. Whitmore. Vicki is survived by her loving and devoted sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Tim Putnam, and her loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Diane Whitmore. Vicki is also survived by her nephews and nieces: Shawn Putnam, Timmy Putnam, Katie Whitmore, Holly Lewis, and Jesse Lewis. Additionally, Vicki's life was surrounded by her many, many dear friends, most especially Samantha Dickerson, and the Serenity Sisters. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 East Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251, with reception immediately following at the same location. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Vicki's name may be given to the or the Phoenix Zoo.
