Fuad Ibrahim Obituary

Ibrahim, Dr. Fuad
was born December 29, 1935 in his beloved Palestine and passed away at age 76 on September 17, 2012. He was a loving husband, beloved father, "Baba" to his grandsons, a devoted brother, friend and colleague. He was preceded in death by his mother Nazy, father Shafic, and his brother Tawfiq. He is survived by his wife Lynn of 28 years, son Steve (wife Kendra), grandsons Jake and Evan, sister Janet (husband Ramsey), brother Esam and 3 nieces and a nephew. Dr. Ibrahim was the founder of Scottsdale Cardiovascular Center. Since establishing his practice in 1977, Fuad had been a moving force in increasing longevity and improving the quality of life of Valley residents. In the early 1980's, supported by fellow cardiologists, he worked with the administration of Scottsdale Healthcare - Osborn to add a Section of Cardiology to the hospital's Department of Internal Medicine. He was elected by colleagues as the first Chairman of the Cardiology Section. He most recently was Director of Cardiac Rehab at Scottsdale Healthcare - Shea. He will be remembered for his passion of the practice of cardiology and devotion to his patients. Fuad enjoyed traveling with his wife, fine food, and had an appreciation of western art. Services will be held at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11am.

I was out of state at the time of Dr. Ibrahim's passing; my heartfelt sympathy to all of the family. I am the dietitian at Cardiac Rehab and have many memories in working with Dr. Ibrahim, most especially his interest in the nutrition part of cardiac rehab and the cooking classes we did together. He was a man of great class in all he did. A funny story.....one day I got a call from the secretary in our department that my eye doctor was on the phone and I thought that was odd since I had not called that office and did not have reason for them to call me. We always called Dr. Ibrahim "Dr. I" and that was who was on the phone when I answered. He was part of our family here at cardiac rehab and we are missing him greatly.

To the family of Dr. Ibrahim,

I feel comfortable calling him Faud as I always considered him a friend even though I only saw him once each year for my physical. I told him a couple years back that I considered him the finest doctor that I have ever known. I am 61 years old. I recall he started to tear up a bit when I said that. He was so appreciative. He was always so interested in caring for me, never in a hurry and always happy just to chat about his travels and the events of the day. He was such a true gentleman. I never imagined having tears in my eyes over the passing of one of my doctors, but I can honestly say I will truly miss this great man. I trust though that I will see him again.
