of Fountain Hills AZ went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2012 following a valiant battle with a neurological disease. A warrior scout with a great heart, an amazing spirit, smile and positive attitude that always shined. Ron was an Army Veteran who served proudly in the Color Guard and was once honored to present the US Flag to the Queen of England. Ron was a ten year volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and was a Master Scout who was honored with membership to the Order of the Arrow. Ron had a varied and interesting career of 20 years in Illinois owning and operating a Grain Elevator, 30 years as a volunteer fireman/emergency medical service that included over 20 years at Howard Young Medical Center in the Emergency Room and on the Ambulance. He also was proud to teach EMS at Nicolet College. Ron was proud to be a Volunteer Eye Eneucleator for the Lions Club giving sight to those without! He was a selfless, kind, gentleman who consistently and constantly gave to others. Ron is survived by the love of his life, best friend, confident and wife, Laura Olson (Brooker). They spent many wonderful years in the outdoors of northern Wisconsin canoeing, camping, kayaking, cross country skiing and watching the birds and animals and then exploring all areas of the state of Arizona. Ron is also survived by his sister Kalah (Jim) and her children, his brother Gary (Sally) and their children, two sons, Ca"ptain R Lee Olson (Commander Beth Movinsky·Olson), Lane B Olson (Tracey Olson), sister in law Amy (Craig), Sharon, Barbara, Donna (Trey), brother in law and spectacular amazing caregiver, Robert (Bob) Brooker, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members. Ron spent the last four years with his best buddy on his lap, Peanut, his one and only dachshund who loved to give him kisses! Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Virginia Olson, his brother in law and rock hound buddy, Richard (Butch) Brooker. Ron will be so very missed by Laura and Peanut, family and friends who loved him, and his extended family at Trinity Lutheran Church and Fountain View Village Retirement Community in Fountain Hills. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at llam with a lunch to follow. Remembrances can be sent to 13213 N Vandalia Dr #72, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. Donations in lieu of flowers can be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Barrows Neurological Research Center or the American Bird Society. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
