, 82, of Phoenix Az, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Georgia James Edwards, Daughters Dana Garcia (and husband Rich Garcia), Dory Edwards Gosar (and husband Chad Gosar), Georgia Michelle Edwards, son George Michael Edwards, sister Catherine Edwards, and eight grandchildren. George was born in Coolidge, Arizona and joined the Marine Corps at 15 years of age (not a typo). He served proudly in World War II, and fought bravely in the Korean war as part of the "Chosin Few". He received a number of commendations including the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and many others. George was a devout Catholic and staunch Democrat who was incredibly proud to defend his views when challenged. His career as a telecommunications engineer took him to all corners of the globe including a long period in the Middle East where his company was lost to the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and he and his family were forced to flee at the last minute. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather and never "sweated" the small stuff. He was an avid story teller and we will cherish the jokes he told tirelessly over and over. He made friends everywhere he went and his personality and charisma will live forever in our hearts. The funeral service will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Private memorial services will follow at the Gosar residence. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the
