86, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away on January 15, 2013. She was born on October 3, 1926 in Marion, Indiana to Beatrice Iona (Mitchell) Shellen and Pendil Harper Shellen. Iona grew up in Swayzee, Indiana and graduated from Swayzee High School Class of 1944. Iona moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in Oct. 1945. She returned to Indiana in 1948 and married and divorced John Lewis McGuire of Roanoke, Virginia. She was then married to Mack Vernon Nunamaker until Oct. 1956. Iona attended Kokomo Business School and lived in Kokomo from 1956 to 1969. She worked for Luntz Iron and Steel there. Iona married Alton Monroe-Klinger on December 27, 1969. The couple
moved to Michigan where they formed Burch Body Wks. Inc. and A.M. Klinger & Assn. Agency in Rockford, MI in 1971. They retired and moved to Mesa, Arizona in the 1980's. Mr. Klinger passed away June 15, 2010. Iona was a member of Phythian Sisters of Indiana for 35 years and was a member of the American Business Women's Assn. for 50 years. She founded two chapters-brought in 109 members-had over 25 years of perfect attendance achieved in 5 states and Puerto Rico. Iona outlived a step daughter-Joan Edwards-daughter of Mack Nunamaker. She leaves behind stepson David Klinger of Evergreen, Colorado; and stepdaughter, Stephanie Sherriff of Portage, MI; brothers James Wesley Shellen of Jenison, MI and Jay Terrence Shellen of Fremont, California, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
