Manson, Thomas "Bull" Wallace
The Guest Book is expired.
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, rancher, tank instructor, entrepreneur, community leader and phenomenal Scoutmaster. He loved his family and was a great husband to Marilyn Hughes Manson; excellent father to Thomas Marshall and Jane Manson, Cynthia and William Heher, Michael and Lyndel Manson; grandfather to William and Curtis Heher, Mak, Ian and Scotlyn Manson and Robert and Christina Parker; and great grandfather to Ashley, Hailey and Michael Parker. Thomas "Bull" Manson was born to Wallace and Beatrice Olive Cashmore Manson in 1932 in Lansing Michigan where he grew up until the family moved to the Mule Shoe Ranch in Magdalena, NM in 1950. He attended the University of Arizona, studying animal husbandry and ROTC, and, on the steps of the Theta House, met the love of his life Marilyn Hughes. After graduating, they married and went to Fort Knox, KY where he honorably served his Country as a First Lieutenant, Tank Instructor in the U.S. Third Armored Division. They then moved to Phoenix and Tom had a long and successful career as a real estate broker and developer. He loved serving others in the Phoenix Jaycees, the 100 Club, Police Pal Program, the Free Masons (32 degree in both York and Scott Rite) and the Phoenix Rotary 100. He also founded the American Humanics Chapter at ASU. However, "Bull" was most proud of his almost 50 year association with the Boy Scouts of America. He led Boy Scout Troop 329 for over 26 years, growing the Troop to over 100 Scouts, inspiring over 37 Eagle Scouts (including his two sons and two grandsons, while his daughter became a First Class Girl Scout) and showed hundreds of boys how to be men. Besides leading the U.S.'s Southwest Troop to the 1976 World Jamboree in Sweden and receiving the Silver Beaver Award, Tom inspired everyone to a love of the outdoors to live the 12 points of the Scout Law and Scout Oath; and to love themselves, others, their Country and their God as he loved Jesus. Tom's final Boy Scout Board of Review will be on Friday, January 25th 2:00 pm. at Christ's Church of the Ascension at 4015 East Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers or gifts please give to what Bull loved, Boy Scouts of America Grand Canyon Council, BSA Memorials - Bull Manson, 2969 North Greenfield Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016 -7715. Phone: Larry Abbott, Executive Scout, CEO (602) 955-1192 to coordinate. As he would end his Scout meetings calling to the Scouts the Scout motto, "Be Prepared", Scouts would echo "We are prepared" and he really was prepared.
