81, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on January 26, 2013. Alice was born on December 5, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Luther and Ollie Welborn. She was the 9th of eleven Children. Alice was married to William "Bill" Carter in 1951 and together they had four children. Bill passed away at the age of 50 in 1976. Alice married her late husband Robert "Bob" Hamman in late 1970's. Alice worked at Motorola in Mesa for many years. Most of her adult life was spent living in Arizona with a short stint living in both Trinidad West Indies and Oregon. Alice was an avid crocheter who made beautiful afghans that will be treasured by many. We will also miss the house shoes she would crochet each Christmas for each of us. Alice is survived by her daughters Peggy Soriano (Ray), Karen Power (Ron), son John Carter, and step-daughter Eva Eden, sixteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, siblings Ruby Kilgore, Fay Willams, Ray Welborn, Calvin Welborn, Ruth Brown and Carrol Welborn as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alice is predeceased by her parents; Luther and Ollie, husbands Bill Carter and Bob Hamman, son Stephen E. Carter, grandson Kristopher Carter and siblings; Curtis, Agnes Washum, Angie Washum and Letha Brandt. The family will be doing a private memorial to celebrate the life of Alice. Alice's final wish was to donate her body to the Life Science program for research in hopes of helping others. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley who provided tender care and support during the most difficult time.
