Floyd W Shallenberger, 86 years young, passed away on 01/30/2013 in Phoenix surrounded by his loving family. Floyd, known to his friends and family as Bud, was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Phoenix in 1956. Bud had many passions in life; among them were his family, hunting and fishing, westerns, books, word puzzles and trips to the Mogollon Rim. Bud honorably served in the Army during World War II, was a member of the Thunderbirds and recipient of the Bronze Star. He faced every life crisis with the same extraordinary courage that brought him back home to his beloved wife Sarah following the battles of World War II. Sarah, his wife of 61 years, preceded him in passing. He leaves behind his daughters, Janis Coe and Susan Kowalczyk, grandchildren, Russell Richardson and Brian Kowalczyk, great grandchildren Aaron Richardson and Katarina Kowalczyk. A graveside memorial service in honor of Bud will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at 10:00 AM Monday 2/4/2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
or the Ryan House. He always guided his family with great wisdom and love. He will be dearly missed and always remembered by everyone his life touched.
