was born on January 18th, 1932 in Licata, Sicily and passed away March 3, 2013. He was a teenager when he came to America. Tony served in the United States Army with distinction. He rarely, if ever, spoke to anyone about the specific events of the war, but he carried them with him for the rest of his life. Tony was seriously wounded in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice. He lived with pain and limitation every day for the rest of his life, but that did not limit his spirit or zest for life. After the war, Tony lived in Brooklyn, N.Y and met Theresa ("Terry") Gibaldi at a wedding. Tony and Terry were married 57 years ago. He often said "I don't know what I would do without her". They moved to Arizona, raised 5 children and 11 grandchildren and traveled the world together. Tony is survived by Terry, his sons, Frank Verderame (Laurie), Carmine Verderame (Laura), Joseph Verderame (Michele), Anthony Verderame, Jr. and his daughter Stephanie Nix (Richard). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nick, Ted, Annie, Carly, Michael, Natalie, Andrew, Anthony III, Jonathan, Teresa and Zachary. A visitation, followed by a Rosary will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 W. Camino del Sol, in Sun City West. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday morning at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 14818 W. Deer Valley Dr., Sun City West.
