Knight, Dale M.
April 7, 1956 - March 5, 2012. Dale M. Knight, 56, financial sales executive from Phoenix, AZ, suffered an aortic dissection and stroke on Monday, March 4, and died at 3:55PM on Tuesday, March 5, at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, AZ. Dale was born to Margaret Ann (nee: Jones) and the late Rufus Elmer "Rudy" Sullivant, Jr., in Ulm, Germany, on April 7, 1956. He was later adopted by J.D. Knight. Dale attended Grand Prairie (TX) High School and graduated from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, AZ. Dale graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and International Business. Dale wholesaled financial investment products for more than 25 years. Over his career, he worked for Deak-Perera International, Merrill Lynch, and INVEST Financial in Dallas, TX. Dale's territory covered most of the western United States when he served as Regional Vice President for MFS Investments, based in Boston, MA. Dale ended his career in financial sales as Senior Regional Vice President for DWS Investments | Deutsche Bank, based in Chicago and New York City. During his career, Dale received many awards and accolades for his sales expertise, team spirit, and dedication to excellence. Among his honors were the MFS Heritage Award, presented to the wholesaler who best represents Team MFS; Wholesaler of the Year (awarded by Bank One); and MFS Wholesaler of the Year. Dale was twice named the Number One Banking Wholesaler by MFS, and recently received a DWS Outperformance Award. Dale married Kim Koeneman Harris at the First Presbyterian Church in Chester, IL, on December 28, 1991; and Dale was thrilled to take on the title of "stepdad" to Kim's two young children, Erin and Beau. Dale and Kim lived in Golden, CO, for 15 years and were active members of Cherry Hills Community Church and the Mile High Cobra Club. Dale and Kim moved to the Ahwatukee Foothills in Phoenix, AZ, in 2006 and have been actively involved at Mountain Park Community Church. Dale had an expert level interest in military history, airplanes, sports cars, music, trivia, and movies. Dale is survived by his wife, Kim, and their children, Erin Jo Harris (Sherman Oaks, CA) and Wilson Glover "Beau" (Meagan) Harris IV of Upland, CA; his mother, Margaret (Jim) Neighbours of Bryant, AR; his sister, Dana Wilkie (Prosper, TX); his brother, Cole Knight (Carlsbad, CA); his brother, John Knight (Mira Mesa, CA); many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. There will be a visitation at Mountain Park Community Church, 2408 East Pecos Road, Phoenix, at 4PM on Saturday, March 9, followed by a Celebration of Dale's Life at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Park Community Church.
