Kruckenberg, Cory
beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on May 9, 2013. Cory was born on May 4, 1926 in Hartley, IA After serving in WWII and the Korean War as a S/Sgt in the Airborne Infantry, he earned his dental degree in 1957 from the University of Minnesota. He started his private practice in Excelsior, MN while teaching part-time at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. While living in Excelsior he was a member of many civic organizations and had a life long devotion to Rotary International. Cory dedicated most of his life to helping others around the world. Cory taught at the University of Saigon, worked in a Vietnamese refugee camp, worked with the Totonac Indians of Mexico, and spent time in Moscow and Stalingrad as a consultant to dental clinics. As a Director of Project HOPE in 7 Eastern Caribbean countries, and the director of the school of Dental Nurses on the islands of Grenada and Jamaica, he and his wife Mary were ultimately inspired to live in Barbados for ten years. After Cory and Mary returned to the US to live in Sun City West, AZ, his teaching continued as an instructor of Dental Hygiene at Rio Salado and the Phoenix College. Cory was then invited to join the faculty at the Midwestern School of Dentistry. After 60 years devoted to Dentistry, he retired in April 2013. Cory is survived by his loving wife Mary of 64 years, daughters Christy (Don Schjeldahl) Kent, OH, Leslie (Philip Jensen) Cave Creek, AZ, son Gene (Jennifer) Inver Grove Hts, MN, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His strong faith was a blessing to family and friends. His body has been donated to the Biological Research Center and his remains will be buried in the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
