Joseph Ross Corea, 89, of Sun City, was welcomed by our heavenly Father July 20, 2013. He left this world surrounded by his loving wife Donna and family at his home and under the kind care of Hospice of The Valley. Joe was born October 15, 1923 to Nick and Rose Cora in Bulter PA. Joe was a World War II Navy Veteran and part of The Greatest Generation. He was a survivor of the USS Bunker Hill after it was severely damaged by Japanese kamikaze planes. Joe was owner of Bethany Cleaners in Phoenix where for over 30 years he was known for caring service and community generosity. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and dedicated volunteer for The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Joe was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Donna, son Joe V (Martha), daughter Rose, step children Carol (Ian), Michael (Wendy), Michele (Tim), and John (Gaye); grandchildren Danielle, Nathan, Elaine, Tori, Joi; step grandchildren David, Rachel, Monica, Theresa, Bethannie, Brittany, and Mandy; and two great grandchildren, six step great grand children Brother Dominic (Donna) Anthony (Rosandra) Sister Nancy (Donald) several nieces and nephews. He was a devout Catholic, a sweet and gentle Italian man, and the love of Donna's life. Joe is preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa; father and mother Nick and Rose; brother Danny; sister, Rosemarie Corea Bartoli; sister-in-law Frances; and brother-in-law, Ray Bartoli. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm- 6:00pm with a rosary at 6:00 PM on July 26, 2013 at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on July 27 2013 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church at 9728 W Palmeras Dr Sun City, AZ 85373 with Reverend Joe McGaffin officiating. Burial will follow at _Saint Francis Cemetery 2033 N 48 St Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe's name may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 13600, Phoenix, AZ 85002; or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street Phoenix, AZ 85014. The family wishes to thank Dr. Juan Morales and nurses at Banner/Boswell, and Hospice of the valley for the kindness and compassion that was given Joe. Those we hold most dear never truly leave us. Joe will live on in the kindness he showed, the comfort he shared, and the love he brought into our lives.
