Robert Neal (Pete) Peterson of Mesa, Arizona passed away on September 8, 2013, at age 88. Robert was born in 1925 in Gannett, Idaho to Oscar and Pearl Peterson. He had one brother William and a sister Dorothy .Until enlistment in the U.S. Army, he lived with his family on a cattle ranch in Blaine County, Idaho. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Gyla, a daughter Marilyn (Jim) Neibergall, a daughter Mardi (Edward Wilkosz) Markwell, and a son, Brent. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Robert served his country valiantly as a B-17 tail gunner during World War II. He was a member of the 335th Bomb Squad, 95th Bomb Group, stationed in England where he completed 30 bombing missions over Nazi Germany. After WWII, Robert attended Boise Junior College where he met his wife Gyla. He was the catcher on the college's baseball team. In 1960, the family moved to Mesa, Arizona. For the next 50 years, Robert worked in ice distribution and produce. For years, he worked for the Crystal Ice Company. Then, Robert was the proprietor of Mesa Ice and Dry Ice on west Broadway and east Main Street, Mesa. No funeral services are planned. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
