Hennessy, Earl James
of Syracuse, NY, passed peacefully into God's Kingdom on September 12, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 10am on October 5, 2013 at the Franciscan Renewal Center-5802 East Lincoln Drive, located at the corner of 55th St and Lincoln, in Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. Earl was born on September 10,1935, and raised in Syracuse, New York, where he later became a member of the Syracuse Police Department. In 1961, he was awarded the honor of "Policeman of the Year." One of his fondest memories, (repeated often) was being assigned as an escort to a young Senator named "Jack" (JFK) when Kennedy was campaigning in Syracuse, prior to his election as President, in 1959. Earl was married to Leloni (Svien) Hennessy on March 17, 2003. They were married 10 years. Earl moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1982, and was a successful business broker and a commercial real estate agent for West USA Realty, for many years. He enjoyed golf, and was an avid sports fan. He loved all things "Irish" and was a devoted member of the "Erin Club" for more than a decade. Generous of spirit and civic minded, each year Earl raised money at Christmas time for underprivileged families so that they might know and experience the love and abundance of the blessed holiday season. Earl dearly loved his family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Bowles) Hennessy, and his oldest son, Michael S. Hennessy. Earl is survived by his wife, "Loni"; His five children: Dennis Hennessy and his wife Carol, of Syracuse, ; Kathleen Keleher of Phoenix, ; Coleen Garvin and her husband, Jack, of Fort Worth, ; Karen DeVan and her husband, Russ, of Scottsdale, ; and Christine Gonzales and her husband Jose', of Chicago, Il. Also, Earl has eleven Grandchildren: Jason Polochi; Jeremy Hennessy, Adam Garvin; Joshua Keleher; Jenna Keleher; Shayna Cruz; Sarah Grothe; Rachel Grothe; Kevin Hennessy; Brooke DeVan; and Connor Hennessy. Earl is blessed with eight Great Grandchildren, and will be remembered by his extended family, and many, many, loving friends Donations may be made in the memory of Earl Hennessy to the Muhammed Ali Parkinsons Center (M.A.P.C.) c/o The Barrow Neurological Foundation, 350 West Thomas Rd.
