David Chavez "Pie" 56 was born to Wenseslao and Eustolia on May 14, 1958 in Artesia, NM. He went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2014. David is survived by his mother Eustolia, step-father Edmundo Diaz DeLeon, 6 sisters and 2 brothers: Sylvia Calles, RoseMarie Guerra (Gilbert), Elida Corella (Herman), Gracie Gibson (Darryl), Elsie Chavez, Julie Aguliar, Wenseslao "Wes" Jr. Chavez (Debbie Mendoza), Christopher Chavez (Patricia). Pie was a fun loving uncle/great uncle to 11 nephews and 10 nieces. He had and extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous close friendships with childhood friends. Pie made friends easily and maintained respectful relationships with everyone he knew. He always had a positive attitude and was non-judgemental and offered many fun moments with laughs and smiles. To those that knew him, found him to be a "jokester" and a Teddy Bear, kind and loving. Pie was two years from retirement from the City of Peoria where he was proud of his work at the Peoria Sports Complex for 27 years. David established himself with both the Mariners and Padres camps and was instrumental in keeping pristine baseball fields. It was very common for the family to get together for holidays, birthdays barbeques at the "Ponderosa" as they fondly call their childhood home. Pie and his siblings hold a very close and tight knit relationship, they truly love each other deeply and he will be solely missed.
