Donald Koessel Obituary

Koessel, Donald (Don) Ray
age 85, of Surprise, AZ and formerly of Minneapolis, MN died peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2014. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Erna Koessel, his sisters, Arlene, Doris and Ruth, and his brother, Fred (Bud) Koessel. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Jeannine, his two children, Martin (Lise) Koessel and Kathryn Koessel, both of Minneapolis, and his stepchildren, Ann Rebentisch and Philip (Kathy) Rebentisch of California. In addition, he leaves his wonderful grandchildren, Sophia, Sarah and Nick as well as his adored nephews, Jim (Carlee) Koessel, Doug (Luanne) Koessel and his grandniece and grandnephews. Don was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Cranbrook School. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Business School. His career was spent in Minneapolis as a senior bank executive for First Bank Systems, now U.S. Bank. Throughout his life, Don supported his interest in the arts and contributed to his community by serving on various boards including the Minnesota Orchestra and Washburn Child Guidance Center. He was an avid sports fan, tennis player and skier. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
