David Rewick Obituary

Rewick, David Whitcomb
95, peacefully passed away December 1, 2014 at Vi at Greyhawk in Scottsdale, AZ where he had resided for 12 years. He was born to Pauline and Tracy Rewick on December 14, 1918 in Lincoln, Nebraska. David graduated from East High in Denver, CO and Yale University. He married the love of his life, Virginia Jones, October 9, 1945 and they shared 67 incredible years together before she preceded him in death in 2012. A veteran of WW II, David joined Ernst and Young accounting firm in 1949 ultimately becoming Vice Chairman of the firm prior to his retirement in 1979. David was a director of Black Mountain Gas, President of the Community Foothills Foundation, and served on the boards of the Desert Foothills Library, Kiwanis Club of Carefree, Boulders Homeowner's Association, and Desert Forest Golf Club. He was a board member of the University of Arizona Heart Center in Tucson, The Institute of Management Accountants and the Chicago Schools' Finance Authority. David was also a member of Council of Emeritus Advisers of the College of Business at Arizona State University and member of national honorary accounting, scientific and engineering societies. David will most be remembered for his loyalty to friends and family, his marvelous sense of humor, his devotion to his wife and his integrity. He lived by his adage "Work hard. Love what you do. Be nice to people." A simple plan. An extraordinary man. David is preceded in death by his wife Virginia and daughter Kathy Kulinski. He is survived by his sister Carol Leahy of Los Angeles, his son Stephen (Liz) of Bend, OR, daughter Lori Simon (John) of Arlington, VT, his grandchildren, Shannon Critzer (Tim), Amy Rewick Goldschmidt (Daniel), Katie Rewick, Chelsea Simon, Charlie Simon and his great-grandchildren Patrick, David & Nicole Hill. The family would like to thank the staff at Vi for their care of David. In lieu of flowers it was David's wish that each of us be nice to someone.
