Don Young Obituary

Young, Don W.
74, of Phoenix passed away on July 16, 2016. Don W. Young, PhD. was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on December 17, 1941, son of Kenneth W. and Helen A. (Waldinger) Young. He was a scientist, educator and public servant who had a long and distinguished career in hydrology. He earned degrees from the University of Miami, Edinboro College and the University of Arizona. His career included positions at the City of Erie (Bureau of Water), Wanakah Water Company, Arizona State Land Department (Water Rights Section), the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and WestWater, LLC where he provided expert advice and testimony in water related cases. He was also a professor at the University of Arizona (Department of Hydrology and Water Resources). He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting, fishing, diving, camping and travel. Don is survived by one daughter, Natalie Young (Tim Borland) of Kirkland, Washington and two grandsons, Kieran and Brendan Borland. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 13, 2:00-6:00pm at the National Postal Carriers Union Hall - 3720 W Greenway Rd, Phoenix AZ 85053 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made, in Don's name, to Sherman Home, Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix AZ 85014 or at hov.org
